Barcelona inform senior players about final Neymar decision. Ever since Paris Saint-Germain confirmed that Neymar was on the lookout for an exit, Barcelona and Real Madrid were the two teams that were on red alert. While the Catalans’ interest was concrete, it is looking increasingly likely that their rivals were only keeping an eye on the player’s situation to block Barca from buying him or at the very least, increasing the cost of his transfer by the summer’s end.
At one point, Barcelona were willing to offer Nelson Semedo, Ivan Rakitic, Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho to the Paris based club in return for Neymar, but all those offers were simply turned down by the Ligue 1 champions. Later, they labelled the Brazil international at 200 million euros.
Subsequently, it was reported by multiple sources that Neymar would be a Barcelona player soon and that Paris Saint-Germain would be willing to take Ousmane Dembele into their roster. But as it turned out later, they were not looking for a swap deal and wanted the deal to be a complete cash scenario and not involve a Barca player.

Fox Sports has now reported that the Catalans have decided to not pursue a move for their former winger after concluding that the demands made by Paris Saint-Germain are too hefty and beyond their means. Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique were among the first to be informed of the decision and Ernesto Valverde was later told about it.
Ivan Rakitic, who has lost his place in the Barcelona eleven to Frenkie de Jong could be offloaded in the ending days of the summer window. The Croat will possibly head to Paris Saint-Germain but that will be the only dealing between the two clubs during this summer and Neymar will stay at the Parc des Princes for at least another three months until the winter.
